He likes to support me in my dancing and he's wanting to learn more himself. Anyways, the three powwows we have gone, everyone people have made racist remarks to him, or how he doenst belong at a powwow because of his skin color. He got called a "honkey" by "fellow" native americans. we've also had belonging taken from our campsite as well. in result my love for powwows has gone down because of that. He doesnt even really want to go to powows anymore because of that. and if he does, he'll sit at the campsite the whole time to avoid that. How can we aproach this? I think it's very wrong to judge a person by their skin color. I want to enjoy my powwow time. Please help.
I am so sorry this has happen to you after so many years of good times, but it is sad to say it has happen to the best of us. It is sad to say but racism is very bad even among our own kind.

I am also sorry this happens to you. Unfortunately some native people have learned the ways of racism well and practice it. It is not our way, we judge people by their heart not by the color of their skin.

Please continue to stay strong and keep dancing, sister. You must show them that they cannot keep you from your heart says to do.

redknife_7 is an unknown quantity at this point
I dont know how you feel personally, but I know what you are talking about, Im full blooded "injun" myself and I have some half blood siblings, and they have mixed blood children. One of my older sisters has 4 children, 2 from a previous marriage, & 2 from her present. My oldest niece looks like my sister but with black skin, my oldest nephew looks totally "skin"
and my 2 youngest niece and nephew look white as snow, and they are facing those typical issues, even from other fellow Natives. I used to argue with people about skin color too, until I opened my eyes, who am I to judge? Maybe they are and maybe theyre not...........does this give anyone a headache or is it just me.....aye
