INFR at Apache Gold Casino...and powwow

Hey the Apache Gold Casino is going to host the INFR this year! And my friend who was talking to his mom this morning, and shes 1 of the casino managers, and there is going to be a pow-wow. Not to much info yet, but ill call my sis who is and administrator there and see whats up.

yeah, the contests will flip-flop between categories: Mens Golden Age, Team Roping, Womens Golden Age, Barrel racing, etc!

Well, the pavilion was originally built for all events, but on almost all weekends, there are rodeos held there, well not only rodeos, but just barrel racing, and team roping, and different things. So only 1 time a year the pow-wow is held under the pavilion. But i called my sister and she said she knows there having a pow-wow, but she'll call marketing and see whats up, and the weekend is around the 15-16. But the last time they had the Veterans pow-wow, they had it under a big tent by the casino and the rodeo was under the pavilion, so iono what they have planned for this year. But i'll let you know as soon as i can.

The spring pow-wow is in march. But they are having in october in conjuction with the INFR. But they use to have a powwow in november along with the Tribal Veterans Celebration, but they no longer have that. Well, i hope that cleaned up some air...lol

Hope you/they decide to keep the events separately, because:

the INFR draws big crowds, (as does the powwow). I would imagine the stands would be full and may not accomodate the fans of both crowds.Either group may not want to watch both tyes of events.

Both rodeo and powwow contests will take twice as long, if you combine them. Think about it. You usually hear complaints about how long powwows last and when the payouts finally occur on Sunday. It will be twice as long for both events to play out.

Where will the drum groups sit? Usually they are down on the arena floor. Also, the rodeo arena will have "extra dirt" for the rodeo events. It may not be good for contest dancing.

Make sure you have all senior contestants off the floor before the bulls, steers coming charging out of the chutes! lol

Etc., etc...I can just see it, it would be disasterous.

It would be great to keep them separate. My humble opinion.

p/s Does this mean that there will be no powwow in March? Say it ain't so!

Well, around here, when they use to have the veterans powwow, there was hardly any spectators, because everyone was at the rodeo, and since this is the INFR, im pretty sure it will be the same. But im sure they are not combining the events under the pavilion. If you have any questions you can call 18002722438, and you can ask the operator, or ask for MARKETING, and they might be able to answer any questions.
