Really I'm just tryin to get some points here..LOL.
The only winners I remeber are: Hand Drum Contest: 1st Gabe Clevlend 2nd Nashoba Simmons 3rd Cricket Rice Stomp Dance Contest: Leaders: 1st James Squrille 2nd Alex Alverez 3rd Bill Dick Shell Shakers: 1st Sony Smith 2nd Johnna Blalock 3rd Joyce Balard Not sure if I spelled some of the names right. All in all I thought this was an alright powwow for a small local contest powwow, a few travelers, but not many. It seems to be getting a little bit better from year to year, although with the right committee I think this powwow could be a good one, but then again I guess thats the case with any powwow. I will still continue to go regardless. As far as the dance competetion winners I don't remeber who they are, the lady announcing them was kinda hard to hear, maybe some one else knows who they are? |

Alicia McClellan 2. Robin McClellan 1. Johnna Blalock Golden Age Men 2. Troy Littleaxe 1. Earl Plumley Golden Age Women 3. Christine Blair 2. Wanda Tiger 1. Judy Bender Boy's Straight 3. Jacob Lusk 2. Brandon Passler or Pastor 1. ? Elliot or maybe Billiot Boy's Fancy 3. Blaine Ramsey 2. Raymond? Washee 1. Simon Washee Girl's Cloth 3. Leanna Olson 2. Mikayla Williams 1. Jennifer Moses Girl's Jingle/Fancy 3. Ashley Moore 2. Nicolette Stroud 3. Yahama Bender These are what I could hear. The P.A. system wasn't too woopie and the lady announcing the winners was rude and vulgar, very unprofessional. The Hand Drum Contest was definately awesome. All the contestants did a great job! |

This women wasn't the accual announcer, she was on the powwow committee and she spoke for the committee, and she announced the winners. But yeah she was deffinatly unperffessional and rude!!..lol. I remeber her saying something about taking the money and going to the "BEER STORE" if the winner she just announced didn't hurry up. Yeah the hand drum contest was deffinatly awesome. Although I think they should have had it on Saturday night instead of Sunday Afternoon. Also I don't like the whole "cheering thing" for judgeing, because it just seems like its more about how popular the contestant is, or how many family and friends they have present, instead of beeing about how good they was. Although I think the winners turned out they way the should have. |

For the Hand Drum Contest, I took it as it was a last minute fun type of deal. Maybe not, but thats how I took it. As far as the judging went, any of the top three could have won if it was a more serious contest. Definately not taking anything away from the other contestants, all did a good job. |

The Hand Drum Contest was advertised on the flyer, so no it wasn't a last minute thing. You are right, even if there would have been more serious judgeing the same three would have placed. I just was thinking that it would have been a better idea to have it on Saturday night when more people is there, intead of on Sunday afternoon when there is hardly anyone there other then the contestents. But it was awesome regardless!!! |
