Gas shortage affecting travel?

Is the gas shortage affecting anyone's travel plans for this Labor Day weekend? I know it is ours. We had planned to hit a pow wow, but with the shortage its not going to happen. Gas is supposed to literally run out here on the rez by midnight, and they aren't expecting any to get in here for another 5-6 days. Not only that, it's almost $4/gallon now and rising steadily.

No problem, got another one on the schedule in three weeks so they should have the gas problem fixed by then.

Gas Shortage

Gas shortage will increase all over the U.S. due to the Hurricance. There is very little gas storage and since they are shutting down the Golf's oil supply we will have to import oil. Which will cause a rise to our economy on gas prices. Summer is ending so hopefully in a month or 2, gas price will decrease.
This gas per barrel was at $67 and yesterday was raised to $70 a gallon, expect more money out of our pockets!

* Education pays off!! Learned about gas and the affect of its economy. Don't be a fool...go to sku!!

Did me too...I was gonna go to Cass Lake MN, 12 hours from here. Not now! It would cost me over $300.00 to get there and back in gas ALONE! So I'm just gonna stay home and start sewing on some outfits and barbeque!!

I commute to work 30 minutes there and back every day. At last weeks gas prices it cost me $130 (USD) to get to work and do my errands. This week it will be over $160.

There will definitely be a change in lifestyle for me because of the rising gas prices. All the people at work also are changing their travel to accommodate rising gas prices.

gas prices are INSANE! thank goodness i filled up yesterday @ $2.72/gallon... (like that's a real steal) ... haha... BUT... on the news today i saw one gas station raising their prices from $2.75 to $3.10! that is INSANE, AND they expected it to rise again by the end of the day... HOLAYYYYYY!

i might just be thumbin' it to the next pw if gas rates remain this high... sheesh!

yep, times will be different due to high gas prices. As for me and my family we won't be going to any pow wows until prices go down. Just can't do it.

Yeah like Singerdad said, made room reservations, and plans to travel Friday, but now with not knowing where there is gas and how much it'll cost just stay at home and do some beadwork, sewing and whatnot. Some of the stations here are limiting how much gas you can buy one place was 15.00 while others were 5 galllons.....

We've planned on going to Odawa celebration in Miami OK and saved for this trip. We wont be able to do much else but we are still going. This is some what a family gathering.

Our gas went to $2.839 today, it was $2.49 2 days ago. We have plenty of gas, no shortage signs yet. I really don't BELIEVE there is a shortage. The mega rich fuel Co.s are just using the hurricane as an excuse to raise the prices more. I figure they were going to do it regardless and just found another reason to blame it on.

Hope you all have a good safe weekend.

I agree there's no real shortage of gas, it's just all politics for the government. They just had to blame the hurricane for there reason to hike up the prices again, our prices jumped from $2.75/gal to $2.89/gal at the local trading post. elsewhere around us, they increased to just about $3.00/gal. I feel lucky but for how long?

It's unfair economics.... (food for thought).

"Speculation ahead of time" that hurricane Katrina would cripple 1/3 of domestic oil production sent gas over $70 a barrel at the NY Stock exchange.

"Reality" of the aftermath of hurricane Katrina sent gas prices to record levels.

How come....

"Speculation ahead of time" that President Bush is going to open our nation's oil reserves and electricity is going to be restored to the oil rigs and refinerys in the gulf region - does not LOWER barrel prices at the NY Stock Exchange?????

How come the NY Stock Exchange dictates how much we pay for our gas?

Who's getting rich each time we put gas in out tanks?

forgive me if this was already mention...... today in nc, everyone was suppose to not get gas (in form of a protest). a lot of people filled up last night when it was $2.50, this morning it was $3.09. i think a lot of people got confused because they have been lining up like crazy!
