Ktunaxa qanxa is an unknown quantity at this point
Cortez to Rocky Boy

My cousins in No. Idaho go thru Cortez on there way to NM, So, I guess you go take the quickest route up to Salt Lake City then Jump on I-15 head north thru Utah, Pocatello, Idaho Falls then to Butte, Mt. Would estimate SLC to Butte around 6-7 hours (bring lots to drink since there is very little shade). At Rocker, Mt I-15 and I-90 join, head east to Butte on I-90, at the base of the mountain with the big Virgin Mary statue, they split again, take I-15 north to Great Falls, Mt (about 2 hours). Once in G. Falls go north towards TV antennas and past the stinky smelters and head north on US-87( north to Havre). Stay on US-87 for about 1.5 hours. At Box Elder, take a right and head east on the Rocky Boy Agency road for about 10 miles, grounds will be on your left below Haystack Butte. Bring your own tent/teepee since Havre is not that big with only a few hotels.

If you are going into Denver, take I-25 north to Cheyenne, then keep heading north until I-25 and I-90 join around Buffalo Wyoming (about 5-6 hrs north of Denver). Keep going north towards Sheridan, WY and Billings, MT about 3 hrs after the Buffalo junction you hit Billings. Stay on I-90 westbound for a few miles then head north to US-85. If you went past downtown, went too far, should take the 27th st. exit(will take you towards big building wells fargo bank bldg). Once downtown, take 6th ave east its a one way heading east towards fairgrounds. Go NE to Billings Heights kind of up on the hill just on east end of Rimrock cliffs. Anyway, gas up in Billings area before you head north, since there is not much in that area of MT. after about 2-2.5 hours you'll come to a junction just south of some mountains on northern horizon and after you crossed the Missouri R. The right hand goes to Malta( they don't powwow), stay left and continue north towards Harlem,Ft.Belknap and US-2. You will pass thru the Ft. Belknap Rez, wouldn't recommend stopping in Hays( some real Montana bush Indians out there, My poor cousins just discovered fire last week I heard). about 45 minutes north of Hays, you hit Ft. Belknap and US-2. Take a left and head west towards Havre. about 45 minutes later you are in Havre. Havre is in a hole basically, you'll go down the stay at bottom as you drive thru Havre, you pass a grocery store on left and an Indian bar is there, too you should come to a stop light, going right will take you into Canada, take a left and head south on 5th avenue this road will take you all the way into Rocky Boy Agency about 40 minute drive. Just head to the big bald mountain south of Havre. Think white guys call it Baldy Butte. Hope these directions didnt confuse you too much. I haven't been to Rocky Boy powwow since '85, but I lived in Havre,Harlem, Ft. Belknap and grandmother was from Rocky Boy. Well, Good Luck, travel safe, have fun, and watch out for the mosquitoes around Ft. B and Havre!

Oh you're coming from Cortez??

Get on the 40 east and take that all the way across to Michigan.

I'm still trying to get people to come here.

You should write travelogues--I love your sense of humor, your descriptions of the 'landmarks' and attractions. What's with all the mosquitos? There's not that much water around there, right?

Are you going by your self? If so, why don't you go find someone to travel with that knows the way...... LOL

If you find out you don't like them very much you can leave them at Rocky Boy. Then here in the 4 corners area, everything will be better.

Directions I'm not sure. I've only been there once. And I wasn't driving. But time, I always use the Map Quest time as a guide. I would deduct a couple of hours, because it calculates at the speed limit. And I rarely drive that! LOL So my guess would be 15 or 16 hrs.

Kiyaanii,

I thought Montana didn't have a daytime speed limit.

So 2cute can "fly low" as she drives through Montana. Dang, that is one BIG state!

Oh, and watch out for the antelope! *L

We always say stuff like that when we fly together............."I'm on vacation, so I'll see you at the airport in a couple of days" or we ask the stewardess, "Could we please have separate seats, I'm trying to get away from my husband/wife."

It's all in fun of course........and it's funny to see people’s reactions. Some of the stewardess are all about business and really start trying to move us around, like we're gonna get all domestic in the plane or something. Most know we're just joking......but dang if he doesn’t hog the arm rest!!!!!!
