I went but i didnt get any results. I went friday saturday and sunday. But I arrived everyday at 7 30 because of a school program im in that brings us, upward bound. anyway, all i did was visit and walk around. It was like my 2nd time ever going there and I thought it was small, not very small, but smaller than most good pow wows that i been to. like kyiyo and browning. smaller. alot of dancers to be considered an alright pow wow though. Oh, and there was Aztec dancers there too! It was awesome. they did a special and the way they dance was different than ours and their culture too. But, similiar. they did a fire dance or something, anyway, it was cool because they did this dance where they put out a small fire of coals with their barefeet! and even picked up the coals with their hands! and these coals were on fire too! it was awesome. they had a drum, but it was like a waist high drum where one man banged on it with two drum sticks quickly and they danced. its too complicated to explain but pretty cool. they came all the way from central america.
the drum groups that were there that I know of were chippewa cree, blackfoot confederacy, southern cree, rocky boy eagles (or something), and like 10 other ones i believe. i cant remember right now. But yeah, good pow wow even though it was smaller than most I visited. |

Wow, less than 20 drums at Arlee? Most of the years I have gone there they usually had around 30 drums.

Yea I go every year.. although this years powwow kinda was boring compared to last year. There were some awesome drums there. (Porcupine Singerz,Southern Cree,RockyBoy Eagles & Blackfoot Confederacy to name a few of 23 total Drums.
I did some videoing and took some pictures but they all came out blurry. I will be posting the Winners on wednesday or Thursday when I get a complete list. |

it was smaller then the past 7 years but it was a good turn out.
the drums... 5. rocky boy eagles 4 yakama boys 3 chippawa cree 2 southern cree 1. blackfoot confederacy .. PORCUPINE was there, was soooo excited. wakinya wambdi. like them too. not very many drums but it was a good size turnout. lots of wasicu's to watch..lots..lol um.. i got upset 2 times..lol once when the mc said that the .. he is a young man enrolled raised and from the rosebud sioux rezervation in south dakota the home of the Oglala lakota sioux's.. i just had to go correct him... ii said its like calling a salish a kootenai, or calling a flathead a blackfeet.... rosebud is the home of the sicangu's. not the oglala's.. the SI CAN GU!!! if you going to say something learn the correct home.... not too pissy..lol anyhow. something else ticked me off but i dot want to discuss it now.. hope i got ur names right, sorry to the ones i could not spell or rember, i check the tape but the kids were talking i missed some names. lol. l8r |
