Teen Boys' Grass: i bet that's Dakota Madera. His bro Davie Madera is one of the best young fancydancers I've seen, he also took first place at GON this year! He and 2nd Place winner Jonathan Nomee also sing for a really good up-and-coming youth drum called LOCK HORNS, who was set up at Wildhorse down near Pendleton.

Props to Blackfoot Confederacy, they placed at Muckleshoot and sounded awesome at Winds of the Northwest out in my neck-o-the-woods last month.

First timer in Arlee

Was down South of the Border for the first time in my life and we went to Great Falls and found that the Pow-wow there would've cost me and my Family $50 american so I used the 50 for gas to get to Arlee pow-wow.
We took some back road from Seely Lake that was as terrible a rez road you could be on.

Anyways!

The pow-wow seemed small and I counted only 17 drums but that was Saturday night and Sunday we left at supper break so didn't know the results.

I really enjoyed the Southern Cloth special, first time I heard Southern Cree live. I wasn't impressed with the Drum Sunrise or something like that?!?! One WOMAN and some kids. I was confused by that one but hey powwow is pw.

Interesting for the Men's categories as i saw only 3 grass dancers and one was a junior category Sat. night. There was an older Golden age Grass dancer that looked like he could've taken first in the grass. And there was about 100 Tradish dancers.

Strange thing I saw was that the Intertribals were done counterclockwise on Sunday. Can anyone explain this??????

Best facilities they have there for all visitors but it not too good when the water runs out!!!!

Loved the Eagles that were flying arond and the Mountains were aweseome. Being there 107th Celebration I was impressed. Will come visit and dance next time.

man i dont remember how the first place winner danced cuz there were SOOOOOOO many freaking men's tradish dancers this year. not that i am complaining cuz a girls gotta love men's tradish.

i was trying to get my WILLIE burger fix during that storm. almost got smacked with the sign!! i thought the Matt family special was pretty good even though it took awhile. yeah that little storm was the extent of the bad weather which was good.

leslie, glad you could join us down here! hope you can come again.

thanks to all the people who joined us at the Matt family dinner
and congrats to NATIKA Boyer who won my daughters special.
i also wanted to say thanks and give good wishes to all the jingle dress dancers who came out and support my daughter and my niece for their coming out. that a beautiful thing to see and i'm glad we could do it at our home powwow.

i had a good time, got to judge on saturday night which was fun. glad those of you who came could make it. and hope to see more of you next year...

Well as I recall - the mc DID apologize in advance to everyone if he mispronounced their names. YA KNOW , nobody is perfect and people DO make mistakes so i dont know why people just dont shrug things like that off and not try to act "holier than thou--- oo they pronounced my name wrong they should be like everyone else and get it right." THERE are more important things to worry about in ndn country than someones name.
