Naw I didn't take offense to it. I don't like the rule either cause we gotta tell some of our singers to stay back or be spectators. That ain't a pretty job to do. WhoMe, can you help us out with this?

With everyone saying they are crewing up, sounds like there will be some stiff competition up there. I'm lookin forward to it.

Yeah, I agree...that rule is putting head singers in a horrible position. How do you tell someone who's been singing with a group..."hey, we don't need you this weekend, stay home." That ain't right.

Plus, I agree, the more the merrier. Man, can you imagine if all the groups there crew up with 15-18 guys...that'd be some of the best singing around. Come on committee!! Do the right thing :)

Come on singers...let your voice be heard! LOL

Up there I will be singing with Waterbird. O wait you already knew that didn't you. lol. jokes. Yea I'm sittin here listening to Young Bird's newest cd. There are some obvious remixes in it. But it's the thought that counts right? It's Dedicated to those who have passed on before. It's called MEMORIES. You can get it on canyonrecords.com lol BESOON

I'm taking it that there is a max of 12 singers per drum. Meaning 12 guys and you can have as many female singers as you'd like.

A 12 man crew is plenty in my opinion. Back when I first started singing 7 guys was a lot. But now days with singing contests it's changed a lot. We used to have our main 5 and maybe one or two more guys but we only made a couple hundred a weekend back then. LOL

Look at Prairie Island this weekend. 10 singers per drum maximum. So pick out your best 12 and show up in DC. None of our guys took it wrong when we picked our 10 for P.I. It goes with the territory.

Good Rule DC pow-wow committee!

I know of one old singer that refers to singers as "Choir Boys" because they have so many these days. LOL....crazzy guy.

Different ways, different opinions...no problem with that. My concern is splitting up drum groups. If a group has 15, they shouldn't have to pick their "best" 12.

When I started singing in the 1980s, 7 was a good number too, but nowadays there's a lot more singers than there were back then. Groups are larger, and that's a good thing, not a bad thing. The more singers there are the better I think. I remember Porcupine took over 20 up to Rapid city pow wow one year. And that was just male singers, and those guys are as old school as you can get.

Oh well, if the rule stays, I won't be singing up at DC...just dancing. I'd be singing with my brother's group based up north, and he's got his regular crew and I'd be over the limit. He'd put me in, but I sure wouldn't put one of his regulars out so maybe I'll just dance.

Too many rules at pow wows these days if you ask me.

Good point. Yall are right it isn't always the quantity, it's the quality. You could have 17 guyz that all suck and are off key. Or you could have 8 that are on key, loud and have pretty voices. But still 10 strong is a good number. I've got my crew. DO YOU HAVE YOURS?

yea i have a crew of 10...and they sound pretty good if i have to say so myself....but we still need work....we have alot of stuff to learn still but we are coming along...i think
