What Ever Happened To The Niagara Powwow?

A few months ago there was a topic on a powwow in Niagara Falls, NY. According to the post the prize money was going to make it a good one. Well, it's about two months away and there hasn't been anymore talk of it since then. Is it still happening? If it is, is the prize money still the same? If so what is the break down? Any help would be appreciated.

I was wondering about this powwow too.

I was working on a project with the National Geographic Magazine to identify the top powwows in the United States for the suppliment map of their September 2005 issue.

I had been to the Niagara powwow when it was held at the "turtle" cultural center, located across from Niagara Falls.

When it was there, it was really good. It was at this powwow where I first saw Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) Social Dancing - including smoke dancing.

????Does anyone know whatever happened to this powwow????

WhoMe, the Turtle Days are long gone...last year with the advent of our (Seneca Nation's) new Seneca/Niagara Casino...came a new pw respectfully named the "Thunder Falls Pow Wow". This 2nd year it has again been renamed the "2005 Thunder Falls Veteran's Pow Wow". I have brought back up the info under Thunder Falls and the sister pw the following weekend (Seneca Allegany Veteran's Pow Wow). I believe that we have a good line up and Friday, July 8th there will be an Iroquois Social open to the public. Smoke dancing is an actual competition contest throughout the weekend along with other categories. Hope you can make it. PM me if you or anyone else has any specific questions.
