2005 Seneca Allegany Veteran's Pow Wow
Veteran's Memorial Park, Broad Street on Route 417
Salamanca, New York 14779

July 16 & 17, 2005 - Gates open 10:00 a.m.
Grand Entry 12:00 noon daily

Golden/Senior Division: $1,000, $800, $600, $400
Junior Division: $500, $400, $300, $200
Youth Division: $250, $200, $150, $100

Payouts for Smoke Dance Contest:

Elder/Senior Division: $1,000, $800, $600, $400
Junior Division: $500, $400, $300, $200
Youth Division: $250, $200, $150, $100

Drum Contest: $4,000, $3,000, $2000, $1000

Promotional flyers and Vendor Packets available after May 17th, 2005. Vendor spaces limited by committee decision.

O.K., seriously, I know that alot of peeps chose not to attend Salamanca in the past few years...NEW committee would like some feedback on whether you are considering coming back this year and what your thoughts/concerns may be... thanks.

With the exception of last year, adult dancers had to wait hours just to get on the dance floor. There was the smoke dance competions, golden age, honour songs, junior and teen contests, than they had two intertribals, which they had spot checks. This was alright for the singers, but the dancers had to suffer in the heat, fully dressed. Dancers say it is easier when you are dancing, rather than sitting in the heat with full regalia. Last year things went smooth, that was because there was the threat of rain. Some adault dancers have children, so they are still within the circle getting their young ones ready. Excusing adult dancers for the afternoon will not hurt a powwow for spectators, you still have real exciting catergories going on all day.
I hope the powwow will take this into consideration or have more intertribals throughout the day

Hello,
I am hoping the information I heard was wrong about this powwow, I had a really great time the last two years going there.
But my friend who lives out in New York called me and said that one of the vendors there she knows got his contract and it said the powwow was being moved to mid-August some twenty miles away where they used to hold it years ago.
Please tell me its all wrong. :(

O.K., here's the skinny...the SALAMANCA Pow Wow is still happening and is still at the same site in the City of Salamanca. The Seneca Nation has taken back control of this pow wow. There is a whole new committee this year. The pow wow happening in August at a local fairground IS NOT affiliated with the Salamanca Pow Wow. The Salamanca Pow Wow is still the 3rd weekend in July. PM me if you want more info for your friend...he/she must have the wrong one!!!
