Dartmouth Pow-wow

I was wondering if anyone went to the Dartmouth powwow this weekend? I hope it was inside. I remember they use to have dance contests there. I know it's early but if they did have a contest, can someone please post the results. Thanx and for all the Moms out there have a Happy Mother's Day!!!

As an alum...i can tell you...we were always struggling to get this thing outside...its good for the mainstream campus to see some diversity....and belive me this was one of the few ways we get to do that...

Not that I want to put our people on display....just want to remind the world we are there....

But the mud usually sucks so...darn NH snow that lasts til May

The powwow was inside because it was raining on Sat. I know its so much better in terms of visibility and spectator attendance to have it inside, but its real tough because its frequently rainy or cold this time of year. It was 2 days again this year. Thanks to the committee for their hard work. Here are some winners that I remember. There were only two age categories (juniors and adults). Sorry if I spell your name wrong.

Girls traditional:
1) Tarlyn Tonepahote (the only one)

Womens traditional:
1) Erin Meeches
2) Taiyin Snowflower
3) Autaquay Peters

Womens Jingle:
1) Aquayah Peters
2) Erica Scott

Womens Fancy:
1) Lina Martin
2) Leah Lussier
3) ???

Mens Traditional:
1) Preston Tonepahote
2)???
3)???

Men's Grass:
I think Ayje Shenandoah got first...

Men's Fancy:
1) Wayahsti Richardson (the only one as well)

They also did a lot of specials but I don't really remember who won them all. Maybe taani will...she's good with posting winners accurately.

This powwow was happening. We just getting back to nova scotia right now...just checkin out what people had to say about it. Zotigh and Midnite Express were jamming man..and the drum comp was aight..there was only 2 of us competeing..the other group ...the college group went MIA..but still placed third.I had a blast...but i missed the 49..which i heard was pretty happening too. Peace and one...

Ohh sorry for forgetting the drum contest results, was mad tired last night after I got back. All the drums sounded great and congrats to you all! My friends and I bought some CDs and wanted to listen to them on the way back but our rental car didn't have a CD player! Yeah the MC was calling Occum Pond all sorts of things...Occum Mist or something like that, Occum Puddle, pretty weird...lol...some of the guys who were running the powwow were drumming so I think that's why they didn't drum on Sun.

my dad wuz tha emcee @ tha pw this past weekend & tha pw rocked. hadda break out my moccs & won tha women's smoke special on sunday. WOO HOO! jordan smith did an awsome job singing tha songs 4 it. tha drumz were rockin out! wuz nice 2 actually see tha eastern star singers, trev ur an awsome singer!!!!! got tha midnite xpress cd, which already been rockin out 2 that @ skool. overall, it wuz such a great weekend & wantin 2 say thanx to all of tha students @ dartmouth. really hope 2 b there next year.
