Comanche Little Ponies Annual Celebration Mother's Day Weekend May 6, 7 & 8, 2005 Comanche Nation Complex Outside Dance Grounds Lawton, Oklahoma 6 miles North of Lawton on I-44, Exit At Medicine Park/Love's Exit and turn west Gourd Dancing Daily - Grand Entry 7:00 pm Saturday & Sunday All Drums Welcome - Camping Space Available Admission is FREE & OPEN to the Public Comanche Little Ponies Princess 2005-06 - Miss Isa Belle Poorbuffalo The Flag of the late Simmons Parker will be flown on Saturday & Sunday HEAD STAFF: Masters of Ceremonies: Michael Burgess & Wallace Coffey Head Gourd Dance Singer: Elton Yellowhfish Host Southern Drum: Southern Boys Host Northern Drum: Charging Bull Head Gourd Dancer: Will Tonemah Hed Lady Dancer: Clorande Tsatoke Head War Dancer: Billy Pewo Arena Directors: Gary Boby Tenequer & Joe Nevaquaya Co-Host: Oklahoma Gourd Dance Club Honored Elders: Collins Wahkinney & Beatrice Saupitty Special Invitation to the New 2005-06 Comanche Nation Princess Saturday Night Special: Men's Prairie Chicken Dance $300, $200, $100 (Dancers must be Bustled - No age limits - Sponsored by Beverly Hedge & Family) Friday: 5:00 pm - Gourd Dance 7:00 pm - Contests. Boys & Girls Tiny Tots (0-6 yrs.), Jr. Boys (combined 7-15yrs) & Jr. Girls (combined 7-15 yrs.) Jr. Boys & Jr. Girls pays $100.00, $75.00 & $50.00 Jr. Categories will be paid at the conclusion of Friday Nights Pow Wow Saturday: 2:00 pm - Gourd Dance 5:00 pm - Supper Break 7:00 pm - Grand Entry Registration for Adult Contests closes at the start of Grand Entry Contests: Women's Cloth, Buckskin, Fancy Shawl & Jingle Dress - Women's Categories pays $300.00, $200.00 & $100.00 Special Men's Prairie Chicken Dance (prize monies awarded by Family) Sunday: 2:00 pm - Gourd Dance 5:00 pm - Supper Break 7:00 pm - Grand Entry Contests: Men's Straight, Grass, Traditional & Fancy Dance Men's categories pays $300.00, $200.00 & $100.00 10:00 pm Host Organization Special & Announcement of Contest Winners Contest Rules: ALL contestants must register. Adults are 16 yrs. and older. All Adult contestants must be in Saturday & Sunday Grand Entries to eligible for prize monies (chicken dancers excluded). Numbers will be taken. All decisions or the Comanche Little Poinies Pow Wow Committee are FINAL. All Vendors are Welcome! Food Vendor Fee is $200.00 for the weekend. Arts & Crafts Vendors are $30.00 a day or $75.00 for the entire weekend. All Vendor fees are payable in cash on the day of set up. Vendors must provide own booth set up & tables. Electrical hookups are available. The pow wow will be held Rain or Shine. In the event of rain, the pow wow will be moved indoors at the Comanche Nation Gymnasium. Well, it rained alot so they had it inside. It was a nice dance, good singing.
Chicken dance was nice, there were three, so they all placed and it was 300-200-100 in this special as well with all the categories in adults. chicken: 1-dana warrington 2-keeno gallegos 3-douglas todome traditional: 1-gabe cleveland 2-bj haury 3-dana warrington Bear Roberts was there, but he did not dance Sunday night. fancy: 1-billy pewo 2-jr. hawkiss 3-?????? grass: 1-keeno gallegos 2-kyle pacheco 3-??? straight- 1-bobby pewo 2-gary unah 3-??? cloth- 1-melanie motah 2-me, sandy tate 3-tracy pewo buckskin- 1-joneda sage 2-charlene cozad 3-pammy tsatoke jingle: 1-tawny ahtone 2-yvette ewalk 3-pearl roy fancy: 1-amanda werywackwe 2-jenny werywackwe alot of gourd dancing and the southern boys were rockin'! |
