Best Powwow in AZ

In spite of all the snow, cold, wind, rain, mud, heat, parking and other issues, which is the best overall event that you would recommend to someone new to Arizona.

No one will see which powwow you voted for and the latest results are shown when you press the view poll results button.

There are some really good powwows in AZ but for fave?? I have to go with ASU -- it's a fun powwow... good dancers and singers show up because it's the weekend before GON, the Phx met. area is always a good time, it's not a long drive from home (I think thats the best part), parking is good, the grass is great, and they always have awesome t-shirts/sweatshirts/etc!

Only complaints: the arena is kinda small, if you don't get there early enough for a seat you won't be able to see through the canopies, and sometimes it gets PRETTY toasty out there!

Tips: Bring lotsa water, sunscreen, and an umbrella! :)

GREAT powwow though! See you there TT!!!

You are so right! They should think about making the arena just a little bit bigger. Thats my only complaint too.. but the rest is all cool! HOKA!

You know, the area was actually larger before they put in the hand-ball or tennis courts on the east side. That took away quite a bit of the space for the arena. Perhaps the interior boundary of the arena can be larger so more canopies can fit around the circle (j/k).

There you go ... mark your territory so no one encroaches into your area.

What's funny are the yellow tape that people string around the canopy legs or put up canopies with zippered screens. And then it gets four or five canopies deep with no way to walk through the area let alone see anything from the back!

Thumbs up Rez Powwows

i like powwows held on the rez. So its either Ft McDowell's Orme Dam Victory Days or San Carlos' Apache Gold. These two usually have good drums and contests. Yeah!
