Just thought I would post a topic where we can just ask why. There has to be little things about powwow that has been bugging you for the longest time but just never asked. Here is you place to do just that. I will start it off and hopefully someone who knows the answer will reply and then the next question can be asked. Okay first question: Why does the grand entry wait one push up of the song from the drum before entering the circle? I never knew why and never asked but see this most places I go. Anyone know why?

hmmmmmmmm Ive never actually thought about that one, I got a question too! why is it that at alot of competition powwows you have to have a tribal card to compete?

They are asking for CDIB Certification Degree of Indian blood because so many non-Indians are getting into the powwow scene. I dont blame those powwows that ask to see tribal IDs.

i think it's traditional to wait for one pushup before starting.....

I still dont quite understand,maybe its because ive been taught that we dont judge someone by their skin color,If their heart is true then whats the hurt ?Im not tring to argue just tring to understand more of competition since i dont compete much.thanks for the reply.
