Friday night was pretty good with the exception of no room to put your gear. The contest songs were nice. Mountain Soul and Southern Outlaws were hosting and Eagle Creek, SizzorTail, Stone Creek, The drum with the little boys, and Shadow Prey were in attendance.
Saturday. Afternoon session was alright. The gourd dance was very short and we only dance one or two sessions; due to a special. Grand Entry was tight, as in no room to move. I am surprise Fire Dept. didn't write up the powwwow for capacity limits. Things got hectic after GE though. Some dancers became grouchy and mean while other were optemistic. In fact there was this one womans tradish dancer who took up alot of space with blankets on the bleachers and gave everyone a mouthful everytime they had to step on her blanket to get up the bleachers. Nobody sat on the blankets no feathers, regalia etc was on the blanket, they were just taking up precious space. Some lady with an infant wanted to get down the bleachers but the tradish lady gave her a one two from the lip and told the lady and her infant where to go. Everytime I see that tradish lady I will always think of what she said to the lady and her infant. Anyways it was all cheesy 'til the specials: fancy, womans tradish and mens southern tradish and piles upon piles of speeeches that seemed to be redundant of content and "shouts out" to family and friends and their families and their friends and their... and on and on they went. By the way I went to shake hands after the Fancy specails and the lady threw my hand away and another refused to shake my hand and the other was trying to avoid my hand but shook in an hasty manner and threw my hands away too, the only sincere handshake came at the hands of a little toddler munching on a piece of cookie smiling all the while as I shook generously his pudgy little hands. The rest of the night was rushed through, two songs were reduced to one and way went the contest. The really only beef I had was space or the lack of it. No place to rest my bustles and no place to put my bag. We ended up pairing with some other dancers on sharing space way atop the bleachers taking turn watching each others stuff when we had to go get ready or to go out for other reasons. It was a challenge trying to reach the bottom from the top of the bleachers too. And another thing there was no way to go inside the dancing circle. People grunted and mumbled everytime we ask if we could go through. Many people left during the specials though wich let up some space to move and wiggle. I guess the powwow wasn't as good as I previously said. It was a Chinle powwow enough said.

Yeah I am going. I wanted to get some tips from you on powwow sound setup too. My equipment is catered more to DJing dances and small raves. Perhaps I can add powwows to my DJ resume. But remember I'm mostly into the art of turntablism (scratching and cutting) and that PA sound isn't really my strongest attributes so I hope to get a lot of good tips from you, alright.

Yup, I truly support previous postings about the powwow. I do also suspected that some people were just being rude to spectators. Therefore, I was surprised that it was assumed that the powwow was great, not overall in addition more securities are needed outside in the parking lots. What are eveyone's response about this powwow, for those that went.

Callin' Eagle
yep... they were there. I am so proud of the boys singing the way they do.
They will be setting up at the Youth Fest in chinle as well, then U of A powwow and McGee Park in Farmington. They are also host at Madison School Powwow in Phx. haven't heard from them lately... don't know if it is still going on.
