I know there are some prominent Southern/Northern Singers, beadworkers, dancers that actively participate in these types of venues, strictly because they'd like to see things done correctly, to further the positive views of Native Americans as a whole....at least those, that participate in powwow culture. But, I've got some Seminole and Northwest Coast friends that also lend their talents to helping these guys too, be it button blankets, totem pole carving, patchwork, or makin' Sofke, or Chuttahogga....they're right there showin' em the correct way of doin things. ....course, I'd hate to be the one straining the corn thru the ash water (lye) and wondering if I was doing things right, knowing full well.....folks are gonna be eatin that stuff when it's all hulled and cooked up......dang!! A belly full of lye laden corn!!!!!! What a scary thought.

On another note....
I wonder if I could enlist the services of some of these cats? Some of them are some pretty damn talented beadworkers, featherworkers, ribbonworkers, fingerweavers, moc makers. I've purchased more than one piece of beadwork for my own grip that was made by a white man.........it's all high quality, first class stuff.....not indian made, but hell......who cares!! It's some classy lookin beadwork, fingerweaving, ribbonwork!! LMAO!

Having seminars/classes about basic dance styles and singing styles is one thing, but having tribally-specific classes such as Crow Dance I, II, and III and Prairie Chicken Dancing and Gourd Dancing is a completely different ballgame. I wonder if the Crow Tribe of Montana endorses, appreciates, or even knows that their dances are being taught in this manner. But, they're not only being taught, they're basically being given away by people who don't have that right because the kids are taught and encouraged to go out and do these dances.

Ok, maybe it could be cool but if you were really learning this stuff would you feel alright about learning it in a workshop you paid for...i mean i could certainly use the assistance of my crow sistas to work on my crow hop but i wouldnt pay for it like that ($) and good lord--its the boy scouts of american for god sakes, who *******izes tribal cultures more than the boy scouts?
Hey bushy--i looked it says it teaches them about our outfits, supposedly how to make them and then how to dance it them. i hope they get hooked up with some fake braids so its all authentic...

Crow Dancing I - History and Culture The Crow people from Montana have a unique outfit unlike any other. History of the dance with photos and explaining major outfit parts.
1 Hr Crow Dancing II - Clothing and Beadwork Detailed information on how to make the outfit parts and the beadwork designs behind the Crow. 1 Hr Crow Dancing III - Dancing How to dance Crow – encourage videos and a CD player to teach this class. __________________________________________________ See, this is what I'm talking about!! History is one thing, but why would they need to know how to make the outfit and how to do the beadwork designs. Those are tribal outfits specifically for Crow people and certain others they've deemed appropriate to wear it...not for anyone who thinks it looks cool. Heck, I think Crow outfits are the absolute bomb, but you don't see me out there wearing one. Why? Because I'm not a Crow! Like I said, this is crossing the line - BIG TIME!

What the?
Sioux Beadwork Design and Colors How to use the proper color and design for your Sioux beadwork Southeastern III - (Creek/Seminole) and Stomp Dance - Music and Dance How to dance Creek/Seminole – encourage videos and a CD player to teach this class. __________________________________________________ _ Ok, first off, "your Sioux beadwork". Are they freaking kidding? So now they're encouraging these kids to steal our designs and patterns? Stomp Dance????????????? Again, are they kidding? I hope so, but I doubt it. This is just plain wrong - no other way around it - it's wrong.
