Hundreds of Indians Celebrate Culture in Richmond
On behalf of my dad Barry Richardson and Stoney Creek I would like to say thanks for the many people how awesome Richmond Powwow was this year. Thanks to all of the dancers and singers that showed up this year. I thought all the drums were kickin' and the dancers were into it. A special shout out to Black Lodge who stuck around from Jacksonville to come check out Richmond and to Secret Hill, Southern Sun, and Black Bear, who all sounded great this weekend. Another shout out goes to my young Saponi brothers Red Earth Singers. They had their coming out this weekend, in the right way with respect and a nice blend. As for all of the Richardsons, they are Haliwa-Saponi Indians from in and around Hollister, NC. Maybe we should start listing the tribes of the winners, so that we know where they are from and we can get to know each other a little better.

dang becky, not that excited, got the list of winners up before monday!!! :) anyways congrats to everyone who placed, it was a good powwow with good songs. glad to see and visit with maria and toni.. hope to see you girls next season!!!

I want to echo what Saponi4ever said regarding thanking everyone. Of course without the drums we would not be able to have a powwow! Hopefully, everyone will be back (and bring more folks with them) next year!!! If I get a chance to list the locations I will but that would take a long time to go though all the folders and registration papers. But I will keep that in mind for next year~

Congrats to all the winners this year. I was there late on Saturday( had to watch some football), but saw some of the dancing. Went back Sunday and had a good time. Godd sing and good dancing. Thanks Secret Hill for letting me sing with y'all. Hope to see everyone next year.
