hmmmm.... yea i was kinda wondering why there were two suthern buckskins out there and one cloth... supposedly there was a mixup in the numbers and the number they called out was in another category... so that's why they had another run off... somethign like that... there sure were a lotta tie breakers too!

All in all it was a great powwow...went by too quick though. I just hope the annual will be as good as this, but 150th anniversary only happens once. The committee & staff kept the powwow movin & grovin...my big azz needed more of a break between the contest songs though, I had barely caught my breath when the drum started! lol guess that means its time to get in shape. Head staff and committee did a hell of a job.

This was a nice powwow. The weather was great!!! It was like Canada in the summertime....not too hot in the daytime and cold enough for a jacket at night but not too cold.
The tie in cloth was redone, to my understanding(and I went up and asked because no other dancer came out and one of my cousins kept saying"it's your number!!!" and the number they called was from another tie) because the wrong number was called for that particular dance off so the other lady who tied in cloth never knew it was her time to dance. So they redanced it to be fair to her because she was supposed to be out there but her number was not called.
Anyways, High Noon, Northern Wind, OtterTrail and White Tail did an excellent job. The ties were good in one respect because the host drums sang those and they flat made those dancers dance!!! Adults had two songs each round so that was the usual.
Prairie Island was jamming, though it took them awhile to warm up..they had a full crew. Ft. Oakland consisted of Ft. Oakland and some YellowHammer guys so they sounded solid too. Of course, Cozads always do a great job.
Hospitality was outstanding as usual. The Alabama Coushatta tribe are always so nice and their hereditary chief gave a speech that was so cool. I think this committee did a good job, they were there on time, they worked hard and they made sure the visitors were taken care of as well as trying to enjoy the pow wow at the same time. Too bad this pow wow only comes once. LOL

This was a great powwow! Where else can you dance outside in the middle of FEB? Everything seemed to run smoothly, there were definitely A LOT of tie brakers....which says a lot about the judging (i mean that in a good way!) I thought the southern cloth tie braker was a lil strange as well.....did the gal who was off beat that entire song actually place higher than the other gal?

Over all, i had a great time....thanks to the Alabama-Coushatta for hosting such a great powwow, Many *LuLuLu's* to the committee for a job well done! I'd like to come back in June, but if i can't i'm happy i was able to make this one. This was our first time down there....very welcoming buncha folks & it was great to see many of our pw buddies as well as make sum new ones. Gotta love that southern hospitality.....had me blushing with a "DAAAAANG YOU'RE KEEEEN!" compliment hahahaha....i lubbed it ;)

See you guys down the trail.....
