2004 Veteran's Day Powwow - Nov. 13 - Rock Point, AZ

The Rock Point Veteran's Association will recognize their local veterans. Please come and support the Rock Point Veterans, families and relatives of the Veterans, and the Native American Culture Club of Rock Point Community School.

It's amazing.

No plans in Window Rock for Vets' day...least, I haven't heard or seen anything planned for vet's day.

in the past, Window Rock was always a flurry with activities related to honoring our veterans.

Typically, there's an early morning march/parade from the Vet's Memorial Park in Window Rock to the Fairgrounds where the local and out of town dignitaries and politicos ploy their "agendas" and show their support for our Vets.

Usually one can see schedules of events at least a week in advance for this. There's almost always a Song & Dance and an all day Gourd Dance, from around noon or 1PM until 9PM on Veterans Day. I for one have ALWAYS enjoyed going there to show my support for the Veterans.

Larry Anderson, Council Delegate from Fort Defiance, AZ almost always coordinates the Gourd Dance.

Hmmmm.....kinda leaves me wondering.

I think I'll call the Vet's office and get the skinny....then if there's nothing, I'll call Window Rock and rattle the Pres or vice Pres' cage. aye!

I'm surprised about the V-Prez. He's a Marine, or former Marine. I know there is a Marine Corp Birthday Ball on Wednesday night.....a ticket only affair, so, get to Gallup and get yer tickets, cause there won't be any sold at the door!

all other activities will be at the Chapter & Community level

I haven't a clue on who's singing for the Gourd Dance, but, typically it's like five drums deep, and it's usually packed!!

Larry Anderson is coordinating the Gour Dance....I'm workin on hunting him down right now to find out more info.

I heard it through the wind that Mr. Steve Darden is MC at the Rock Point Veterans Day powwow on November 13. I don't know about the gourd drum or other head staff except for Mr. Norman Largo as AD and Mr. Bill Manas as Head Gourd dancer.

There are a couple of places in my back yard, one place is called "horse shoe canyon" ... another place is called "tsin sitanii" (place where the log is).
