OH boy!! ....fund raising for the Sheka Family Christmas!!!!
I guess they think that folks have forgotten all the rip off'ing that went on at the last powwow.
Nearly ALL the raffle ticket items weren't there when it came time to draw for winners. You had to pay if went out to the parking lot and then came back into the powwow. The food concession was overpriced and just had the yuckiest food imaginable. ....I'll be home or at the casino when this powwow rolls around.

Prairie Island is that same weekend and they always have their money, you don't pay to get in, only thing is the weather is usually snowy. The rooms are high, no camping in December, but the pow wow is jamming!!!!! Then everyone heads to the Mall of America on Monday to hang out and all.
Good hospitality, and of course the casino is busy, busy, busy! |

I was there Saturday evening. There weren't as many dancers as in the past. But each adult category had more than 3 dancers. Men's tradish Northern and Southern was combined. And so was Women's Cloth/Buckskin Northern/Southern.
I left before they announced winners. But Hey Mr. B.J. I had some curley fries from the concession. They were yummy! Cost seemed reasonable. Can't remember exactally how much. |

We were at a family dinner in Yahtahey, NM Saturday afternoon, so when that was over, the hubby and I decided to head over to W/R and check it out. So I actually got the opportunity to go. If we didn't have to travel down for the dinner, we would have stayed home.
We were wondering where you were. I had a nice time. Crow from Midnite Express was in town and picked up a crew to sing. That was kewl! |

I know I missed out on something. I had some business to take care of which came up weeks after I had agreed to help my son Matt, but there was no other choice on my part. I know that if you were in the same situation, you would've done the same.
Other than that, I will be at the New Year's Eve powwow at Gallup next Friday. Between now and then, I have three holiday season parties on my schedule (all have live bands). |
