2004 SOUTHERN UTE FAIR CONTEST POWWOW September 17-19, 2004 Sky Ute Events Center in Ignacio-Colorado USA OVER $50,000.00 in cash awards NO Admission fees, NO registration fees, NO parking Fees Host Hotel: Sky Ute Casino & Lodge Host Southern Drum - YoungBird Singers (Oklahoma) Host Northern Drum - WhiteFish Bay (Ontario, Canada) Host Gourd Singers - WaterBird Singers (Denver - Andy Cozad) Master of Ceremonies: Dennis Bowen & Hammond Motah Arena Directors: Patrick Moore & Rusty Gillette Head Gourd Dancer: Lewis Cozad Head Drum Judge: Dennis Zotigh Honor/Color Guards: Southern Ute Veterans P.A. System: Sandman & Hummingbird Productions Head Dancers are selected daily Dance Categories: MENS: Fancy Dance, Grass, Southern Straight, Northern Traditional, Chicken Dance, and Golden Age WOMENS: Fancy Shawl, Jingle Dress, Southern Cloth, Northern Cloth, Southern Buckskin, Northern Buckskin and Golden Age TEEN BOYS: Fancy Dance, Grass, Southern Straight, and Northern Traditional TEEN GIRLS: Fancy Shawl, Jingle Dress, Southern Traditional, and Northern Traditional JUNIOR BOYS: Fancy, Grass, Traditional JUNIOR GIRLS: Fancy Shawl, Jingle Dress, Traditional TEAM DANCE: $1,000.00 , $600.00, $400.00, $200.00, $100.00 DRUM CONTEST: $4,000.00, $3,000.00, $2,000.00, $1,000.00, $800.00, $600.00, $400.00, $200.00, $1,00.00 Specials: Mens Northern Traditional sponsored by Council Member Jim Newton Jr. and the Box Family (3 places - money plus jackets) Chicken Dance Special - Open to all ages (Saturday night) sponsored by the Southern Ute Growth Fund / $2,000.00 /$1,000.00 / $800.00 / $600.00 / $400.00 / $200.00 Back by popular demand - the Singers Powwow Chairs competition.
