1st - Snake Island
2nd - Eagle Feather 3rd - Little Otter 4th - Southen Boyz 5th - Lake Delton Consolation: Pipestone, Elks Voice, and The Bucks. There were some hometown groups set up that were not in the contest. All the drums sounded good. I think the "Lead's" made a big difference in the scoring. (my personal opinion) Good pow-wow. Non-NDN spectator's jammed the "Woodland Bowl" to dang near capacity Saturday night. It started to rain just as they were announcing the Dance copetition winners. All the N8V's scattered at that point. It was pouring rain for most of the announcments of the winners. Hope some one got 'em all. |

Snake Island is based in Aaamjiwnaang First Nation, Ontario. They are Ojib.
Their group is led by Miigwans Snake from Aamjiwnaang. Two others are from Aamjiwnaang - Nim Plain & Ernest Walker Jr.. There are 3 from Chippewas of Nawash-Mark Lavallee, Matt Lavallee and Bryden Akiwenzie. Two from Mijikining - Bill McRoberts and Jody Shilling. One from Oneida, Ont. - John Brown. They have singers who help them out from time to time. Josh Smoke, John Snake, Tyler Lavallee to name a few. Good group of guys who love to sing and make the people dance. They've paid their dues and are reaping the rewards now, but other groups have done the same before and I'm sure there are other groups who are getting ready to make their move. Enjoy their music now. Their young and right now they are extremely capable. |
