Hey everyone! This is exciting and needs to get out ASAP!!

Talked to Rene Haines and Jeannie Boisineau yesterday concerning finding more Indian folks for the movie that is starting to be filmed in Virginia. The locations casting person, Jeannie Boisineau has authorized me to send out a press release and I designed a flyer for you guys to distribute! Put the flyers up in the VA and NC and MD communities so that they can get a good turnout....

There will be two casting calls in the Richmond area - and they are looking for loads of Native folks.

Please post, distribute, send, paste, do whatever you have to do to be sure this info gets to everyone.

I am excited to be involved with this project, and hope that all of you will be able to get this info to all the right folks that are interested.

Feature Film Open Casting Call
Native Americans from all walks encouraged to apply…

Jeanne Boisineau, Virginia Casting Director for the feature film The New World, will be conducting two open casting calls for extras in June. The first will be held in Charles City County on Friday, June 4 from 10 AM to 7 PM, at the Charles City County Social Center, 8320 Ruthville Road, Ruthville, Virginia, 23140, and Saturday, June 5 at Charles City County High School, 10039 Courthouse Road/Rte. 155, Charles City, Virginia 23030, from 10 AM to 7 PM. The Richmond open call will be held at The Shops at Willow Lawn, at Willow Lawn Drive and West Broad Street, on Friday June 11 and Saturday, June 12, from 10 AM to 7 PM.

The New World, a New Line Cinema production, will be directed by Terrence Malick. Malick’s previous films include Badlands, and the Oscar-nominated The Thin Red Line and Days of Heaven. The picture is set in 1607 Virginia, and stars Colin Farrell as Captain John Smith, Wes Studi as Opechancanough and Christopher Plummer as Sir Christopher Newport. Filming will begin in July, and will primarily take place in the Williamsburg area through October.

Especially being sought are Caucasian men and women between the ages 18-50 who have lean physiques and interesting faces, and Native American men and women between the ages of 18-40 with tall, lean and athletic physiques. Native American flute players, dancers and archers are also being sought. Hundreds of extras will be needed to work for a day or two over the course of the film, and a select group of extras, both Native American and Caucasian, will be chosen to work for the duration of shooting. Those who do not live in the Hampton Roads area and are chosen as core extras will be housed at company expense. Even though the casting associates are looking for tall, athletic and slim physiques for some of the extra roles, all physical types and ages are strongly encouraged to apply. All performances will be paid, and acting experience is a plus, but not necessary. Interested applicants must bring a recent photograph (not returnable) with them to the open calls.
