All of the above ... I keep coming back to see the posts ... and I wasted my time and resources over the weekend ... and all we can do is talk about it. The event should have never gone forward to begin with.

Yup, when they realized they weren't getting their money. They should have cancelled, then no one would be posting anything here. That would have been the most honorable thing to do!

I don't think you wasted your time. Your sound system was rocking. The mics were always ready and working. You did a good job representing yourself. The dancers and singers and spectators saw the good things.

Yup, financially, you wasted resources. Wish it didn't happen that way....

I know huh?!!! I'm up North, miles and miles away from that powwow but I still keep reading for updates. I feel bad for all that were cheated and keep hoping that we'll finally hear something good that happened like everyone getting paid, or those crooks getting tossed into jail, or even another "mooning" story, ayyyyyy.

As of 3:00 pm, my connections who are waiting on money, have not received anything.....Luckily, they live in W/R and can wait from their homes. Some of the people who live far away will probably never see their money.

as a member of bad moon risin and the person who was contacted about hostin at this powwow it really makes me and my drum sad that people would do this. i wish they would tell me they have no money whatsoever, because it costs me long distance callin leavin messages and being told were gonna get paid, and it falls on me bringin these boys out here missin work not gettin nothin and i have to explain to them that were up shyt creek. were host in september fo the fair but i dont know most of these guys wont go because of what happend, but i just dont know. i just wish these people would tell the truth.

On The Shayne Hughes Deal....speaking Of Deal Isn't She Married To Dark Horse's Chris Dinedeal....but I Find That Funny What She Did...besides Thats What Some Of The Powwow Ppl Do For A Living...yeah I Know Powwows Are About Song And Prayer And Meetin Old Friends And Makin New Ones But,.....i Mean Thats How Some Of Us Pay Our Bills And But Food On The Table And Cloths On Our Children's Back....yeah I Know Some Of You Are Sayin Well Get A Job...god Gave Each And Everyone Of Us A Talent And Thats It Dancing And Singing And Thats How We Make Our Money To Live In This F*%$#@d Up White Mans World You Know.

Yikes!!!!! Now that's a new one, moonin' everybody. LOL
Some things never cease to amaze me. I can understand the frustration of going to a pow wow that advertises their money, and then doesn't come through. Sometimes that is just the risk we take when we travel. I believe Ms .Hughes is from Arizona, so her travel expenses were not a severe as the drums and the dancers from out of state. Regardless, to leave your participants, who could have gone elsewhere but chose your pow wow, up the creek is terrible. It is also memorable, this will go down with the reputations of the people running this pow wow as well as the the reputations of pow wows from that area. Too Bad, and I feel sorry for my nephews (Bad Moon Rising) who made the trip. Drum groups who are on staff should always ask for money up front, at least half. Now dancers, you are just taking that chance. I spoke to a few dancers who said they heard Red Earth did not have the money, but they are backed by the Dept. of Tourism, the State of Oklahoma and also have fund raisers through out the year. They are an established organization that is run, however harshly you may judge them, by white people. They had the money, they paid their drums, put them up in hotels(which can be a risk too, ha ha) and did not charge the teens or juniors to attend or register. so, I think Red Earth was a good choice for that weekend.

See what I mean about givin' Navajo and Southwest bad rep. I wonder if that Auriolia did this on purpose, because she knew Bad Moon was host for the fair. Her sister use to be the coordinator for the fair 3 years ago. Maybe she is getting back, because the Fair office picked someone else to be coordinators.

This just sucks........ Oklahoma has some of the best Southern Drums in the U.S. And it is damn hard to get those Okies to travel, so we can hear their goot tunes. Now it is going to be even harder........

THANKS for nothing NDN TIME POWWOW! Now you know, word is your powwow wasn't that good anyway....
