Seriously though, I DO hope they're not pullin a fast one over on folks. It's a shame...but, that's people in this World nowadays I guess.

I can only hope that things are worked out in a timely fashion. I'm sure the committee has the resources and this will be a "lessons-learned" for all involved. My main concern is the word getting out and hesitation from all out-of-state northern and southern drum groups that powwow committees from this area try to bring to Arizona in the coming months and years. Once trust and honesty is compromised, it takes time to re-establish credibility and reliability. The Navajo Nation Fair Powwow committee and all local powwow committees need to address this issue now to avoid any similar embarrassments and alleviate stressful situations that result from such shortcomings. P.S. Enjoy the sushi bar if I'm wrong.

things are getting rowdy now... i saw aurelia this morning at chevron checking out the story in Navajo Times... big ol front page headline. Everyone spose to find out today about the money... *crosses fingers*.

This really is not good. What's up with this lady? 1st - she says the money is in the bank. It is too much money to have on hand, for security reasons. So all payouts will be at Wellsfargo Bank in the morning, Monday. Wellsfargo bank employee say she did not and never had a bank account there. Quote from Navajo Time newspaper. 2nd - Monday at the bank she says the Casinos were suppose to wire transfer the money to her account but it has not been done. Remember there is no account at wellsfargo. 3rd - She says she is on her way to Phoenix to get the money from the casino or to get the money from the phoenix bank. She told two separate people these different stories. Then one of the dancers got a police escort to her house. And she was actually there with her husband/boyfriend, and not on the road. She said she was going to cook first then leave. 4th - So now, she has opened an account at Bank of America. (I thought she had an account at wellsfargo) And getting the money transferred. 5th - Today at 3:00 p.m. the money is suppose to be available. FYI........ Tribal Casinos do not donate very much money for other tribal powwows. They night sponsor their own powwow and drop a lot of money. But they don't usually send $30,000 to someone else for it. She said she has 3 casinos donating. The means each should be giving about $10,000. So I'm with you Rum on Rye (like my nickname for you?). They don't have the money and/or will not be paying what they advertised. I heard the committee had contracts with the head staff. Looks like fraud to me...... If this happen in the white world, someone would be going to jail. If I was the on the committee, I would cancel the powwow before I would shame myself, my family, and my tribe like this...... PS: Some dancers who were suppose to be paid, saw her at Walmart in Gallup shopping. |

They'll grow up bein the kid of two people who hoodwinked some powwow people in Window Rock, AZ!! LMAO! How about how this will affect any possible future powwows in the Window Rock area? Or, legitimate people who WANT to put on a powwow in Window Rock, and make use of the facilities? I'd be hesitant as heck to go now!! What about how the Navajo Nation will have to live with the shame of having had two of it's tribal members scam a bunch of people out of payouts? Then again.......I'm sure there's MORE money taken out of the Council by corrupt gov't employees right now, and we all don't know about it LMAO!! I heard a prominent Tribal Council member approved, well......, took/borrowed I'm not sure which) $2,000 from the Emergency Funds at the Council and gave it to the committee on Tuesday or Monday or something to sort of calm folks down, to get them back on the road and homeward bound....with I think it was like $40 for the dancers and the drum groups splitting $1,000 amongst themselves. It's a shame, but, we DO live in an imperfect World....and we're all just human I guess. What we're they thinking? I'm sure they knew they didn't have the money, and by saying the casinos backed out, is a good enough excuse as any.....it sort of puts them in the clear with folks. But, as a result, you have casinos, not named in this particular situation (funny, if ANYONE sponsored anything, you'd figure they'd give props to the appropriate sponsors, hence, when she was asked, I heard she avoided the question, and wouldn't respond with names of actual casinos who supposedly sponsored this event)......I mean, c'mon!! I wouldn't so much as give them $10 dollars, let alone the supposed $60,000 they said they we're given by the casinos. First they said $40,000, then they said it was $60,000. Either way you cut it, they lied...and everyone knows, or will know. Boy, if I knew them, I'd disassociate myself from them REAL FAST!!!! Greed........and the buck, I think, drove them to this. Either that or they're too lazy to get out and get jobs like everyone else. Whatever the motive..........the end result is messy, sordid, and just plain SOUR in the mouths of the winners, and folks like Ta'neeszhanii Techno.......he's a real victim in all of this. He put out some good equipment, spent money getting to Window Rock....only to get crapped on by some heartless people. ......but, like I said. If they DO have the money, and everyone get's paid...............I retract all I said here. Mr R.R. Rum on Rye.......dang!! That sounds like it tastes bad!! LMAO! Dang, someone start up a thread on powwows that ended like this, with no payouts!! Let's tally up how many times folks got ripped off like this.
