but I'm not in polar bear country.. that's more northern LOL. I'm southcentral where we have a quite healthy blackbear population and some good sized brown bears as well.

yeah i'm bummed.. had to miss my own people's picnic last weekend as well.

Snake Island and Eagle Flight for sure. Whitetail Cree is host... I guess they raised prize money for drums to 3000 I'm not to sure about dance contest..I havent heard anything. Must be the same as last year?

All the local hotels are sold out (Dudley & Holiday Inn Express-Salamanca; Country Suites/Red Roof/Econo-Olean; Microtel-Springville) !!! - maybe in Bradford, PA you might find one.. it's about 1 hr. from Salamanca... otherwise bring the tent.... in Gowanda (about 40 minutes from Salamaca) there's one called the Palm Gardens.... oh, maybe...if you call right away, the Seneca Nation Highbanks Campgrounds might have some cabins available yet...(?)

ok...so camping it is eh? hows the camp grounds like? i got some family members who want to camp but i couldnt tell them how the camping was because i never camped there before....so anyone got some info on campin, showers, N stuff like that?

Will someone keep track of how many dance-offs there are? The same crew is doing this powwow as Niagara Falls.

Last year we camped out right on the powwow grounds. It was OK. But the shower facility (I think it was a community centre) was kinda rank. This year we got hotel rooms. Miss Nish - I like my moose meat well done ayyyyeeee.

The Highbanks Campgrounds has cabins with electricity..the showers/restroom are in a communal building. There's a pool...it's rustic but nice. It's about 20 minutes from the pw site. There's also free camping behind the Haley Community Building.... it's way in the back by the gazebo...that's where the pw ppl take their showers. There's a road across from Burger King that says "Tribal Offices"...follow that road alittle past a cluster of housing units and turn right. About 1/4 mi and you'll see the Haley Building-has a pool in front of it. There's driveway back to that site. C-ya this weekend?

I'm going there! I'm headed out from WI this afternoon. I'll be getting in that hoop dance contest! Check me out! Hope I don't mess up! I'll be the one in the silver and blue outfit. I'm getting nervous about it. I've never contested hoop before. See ya there!

Oh yes, i'll be there, well IM PRETTY SURE i'll be there because our city got flooded in the middle of the night...waist high waters it was crazy because our city never floods lol who are u LAXstarmom? lol I went to salamanca powwow last year..i had a good time, singin behind eagle flight N dancin there, hopefully it will be the same this year
