Okay, I gots me a question here... just a little question that was brought up to me before and I answered as best as I could, so I'll post what was asked.....

"When a drum is contesting and a member of that drum recieves an emergency phone call, (ie: death in the family, wife went into labor {you know something extreme to that effect}), should the singer go to the head drum judge and inform him so that his drum won't be deducted points for his absence or should the drum just accept the consequences?? And would this be fair to other drums and his drum since this is a group effort???"

Oh boy I had a tough time answering this one...so I just told the guy, it most likely up to the singer and the head drum judge and the drum...this was something that needed to be discussed by all involved in the process....but most likely you were going to find a replacement singer for his drum or just pack up and leave...because the head drum judge would most likely declare it was not fair to the other contestants...

What do you all think??? This was a question asked me at a powwow a couple of weeks ago......

In this situation, I don't think the member or drum should be penalized. Things happen. And I can not imagine another drum complaining about his absence, due to the circumstances. Just my 2 cents.
