I notice that some drum groups use hand signals.
That is something new. years ago the singers signaled with the drum.
Examples:
What everyone calls honor beats is just a signal that the tempo will change to a faster beat.( lately some groups hit 'honor beats' on every chorus)
Whoever wants to lead a song - hits the drum once.
Three quick beats near the end is a signal for the women to finish the song.
I can't remember, omakiya po!, i think it was two beat was for the announcer to come to the drum ( that was before they sat up high in the announcers stand, ha,ha)
Any oldtimers remember any more?
