Moving To Maryland!!!

hello my name is Louie Paul, i just wanna know any info on the natives in DC area...like any activities, orginzations i can join in on......lemtlemts (thank you in flathead) i'll be looking forward to seeing you all in the eastcoast powwow trail....i wish you all well.....but hey my fiance' said she can help me out some here and there.....

My D.C. sources tell me that the American Indian Society is one of the oldest organizations in the D.C. area. The President used to be Mitchell Bush but don't know for sure these days who heads it up. Bushy braids would probably know more about the local area organizations such as AIITCO, etc.

yeah and dont get the bmore ndn center has lots of activities and things to do like culture class and rum practice and pw committee meetings and other meetings 4 outreach in the community...but i already told u that :)

I believe Michael Nephew is the current president of AIS, they have a variety of activities through out the year....the rest of us have established a nice little native community. We have teams in rec league basketball & football, we have get togethers, & plan trips, there's always something going on & of course the local powwows.......get in where u fit in!

exactly what bux said... there's ALWAYS something goin' on! and support the community! there are TONS of events and happenings so you'll want to be on the "SMOKE SIGNAL" e-mail list (i'll pm u the addy)... it's a like a list-serve that lets ya know whenever something around the area is goin' on.
there are all kinds of mini-powwows, events & gigs too - that most the community supports, any reason to get-together! but ais does host a lotta different activities... you can visit their site @ www.aisdc.org/public
so when you comin' out!?

I'm planning to come out to D.C. the week of the Indian inauguration ball. (Bush's Indian inauguration ball? Indians will celebrate for just 'bout anything) *L This celebration will take place on January 20th.

It would be nice to meet for lunch or sumthin. You gonna be around? (Indians also like to eat together for any reason at all) *L
