Hard to believe after this round we will be down to the final 3drums. I am really glad you decided to do this Paul. I think we have all enjoyed listening to the songs of these drums, some, many or all of which most of us have never heard before. I would like to thank all the drums that participated, congradulate them all on jobs well done wether you went out in the second round or the final round you all did a great job.

FW: * From Lead singer of Wind Eagle*-
Hello everyone this is Shane Webster of the Wind Eagle Singers. We are from the Menominee Nation located in Keshena WI. That is our home. The majority of our singers are Menominee, however we have singers who also represent the Sokaogon Ojibwa of Mole Lake, and the Forest County Potawatomi, and have friends that help us from time to time who rep the Oneida nation located out of green bay WI. We have the privilege to be in this year’s pow-wow idol contest, and have advanced into round 8. This round you will be indulged with the pride of our ancestors when you here the Menominee Flag song being rendered. The Menominee language is being spoken in this song “this staff brings real good feelings, (pride), and thank you to this Eagle that is in front of us”. (That is as close as I could get in English), and i ask forgivness if I have missinterpereted for at times our language is hard to put into english Menominee words, we:ske:stapena:we: ki:kae:ki:wanIna:h, Wae:wae:non, kene:iyum This song was made by John Teller Jr. It’s our first flag song made by one of our own members, for the Eagle Feather staffs. We are proud to represent J.T Jr when we sing it, and also proud to sing if for our Eagle staff carriers. We sing flag songs, either straight, or with the words of our people for the American Flag because it is the home of our Native Peoples, but we honor the many Eagle Feather staffs, veterans associations, and most importantly, the soverenty of our native people through out Mother Earth. Now that you have the opportunity to understand what is being said in the Menominee Language, I hope that it brings out the pride that it talks about, the pride we hold in our hearts for our eagle feather staffs, the flag of this great nation, and the men, and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice, so that we may live free, and to continue to pray in our native or non-native ways. This song also pays respect to the Eagle who gave its life so that we may have representation in the eyes of the creator. We would like to Thank John Teller Jr for making such a powerful song, as our hearts and minds flood with the pride of our ancestors when we sing it, and we hope that now you will have that same rush when you here it. From Johns Heart came this song, from ours we sing it, so yours may fill with pride for our peoples. Nahaw Eniq! |
