I need help with bustles

I have not started dancing yet, and i am trying to get all the information i can before i do. Is it ok to have a bustle made out of Red Tail Hawk wing feathers, and if so, is it possible to make one out of these feathers, or would it be too small?

Traditional or Fancy. I assume tradish. because I've never heard of Hawk wings being used for fancy. But I've seen plenty made from eagles.

Either way you'll probrably need to extend them with dowel rods. You'll definately need more than a set of wings. p.m. me if you want.

Most definately. Read(know) the laws. You could get in "heep big trouble" if you are not legally permitted to have them. If you have the proper papers, it is your option. Do a search here @ pww. com on; eagle permits, Migratory Bird Act,lost feathers, etc. Legal use of feathers is a sticky thread somewhere in the forums. Plenty of info there.

KP HOOD is an unknown quantity at this point
I've Seen Allot Of Hawk Bustles And They Look Ok.
You Do Have To Extend The Feathers. Here Is The Way I Do It. I Use Skewers They Bend They Don't Snap, Good Glue Like Super Glue And Electrical Tape.
The Trick Is To Make The New Quills All The Same Length. The Size Of The Feather Not Including The Quill Will Dictate The Overall Length.
First I Usually Cut The Quill All The Same Size To Make Them All Uniformed. Put The Glue In The Hollow Quill And Glue The Skewer In Place. If You Use Super Glue You Have To Work Fast.
After I Get The Skewers Glued In From The Base Of The Feather Measure Them All To The Same Length. You Need A Loop At The End Of The Stick I Use Ribbon So The Humidity Here In Oklahoma Don't Rot It. Then I Wrap Tape Over The Quill Then Down The Whole Stick
Then Over The Loop

Correct, not only CDIB. You must also be enrolled in a Federally Rec. Tribe. At least that is what the law says.
If you want to use them, you gotta get the enrollment taken care of.
So says Uncle Sam!
