Two Step

OK, I've got a question. I wuz at a powwow and they called a two step. I walked up to a guy and asked/told him to dance with me. He cussed at me! I thought they were either supposed to say yes or give me something. I was shocked! I just walked away. I told one of the elders about it and asked what I should have done, I didn't know the guy's name, but they just said, "That's not good." Any thoughts?

Daz jacked up! I've been to powwows where they just walk up to the MC and he calls the guy out!

There have been a lot of pow wows I've been to that the MC announces if the guy refuses a woman on a lady's choice... he owes her 20 bucks!

I have to agree, that's jacked up someone would do that!

It's been always ladies choice since I remember....but now days things change and the simple little fun things like that go by the wayside......tell the MC!!!

I have to say...if it were me....he would have got a good kick in the groin while I took the 20 bucks to make me feel better...but then I can be a bit vindictive. I am sorry though that you had to be treated that way by someone who obviously has no respect for women and thinks that it is perfectly acceptable to shame one in public that way. Hopefully it didn't put you off completely from trying again to have some two steppin fun at a pow-wow. hopefully one bad apple doesn't ruin your whole cart.

Yeah well, that was the 1st time I ever scraped up enough courage to ask someone not related. I thought oh well i'll give it a shot. I would've told the MC if I knew the guy's name, but I didn't know him. I'm glad not all you guys are like that!

I'll try again and maybe i'll "pick a better apple". LOL Thanks yall.

Most powwow people have heard of the Indian two-step.

However, a lot of people still don't know that there are rules to this dance.

If these rules are not publically announced, then in essence, these rules are not common knowledge for that particular two-step.

Just because you and I know these unspoken rules, it doesn't mean everybody knows them as well.

1 single guy not married
because it's a dance where the woman are saying to the man hey you fool I like you so like me back

2 yes if doesn't dance with you he has to give money or a peice of his dance regaila
now theres an exception if another girl got to him first he taken you can't dance with you.

i even make my husband cough up the $20 if he doesn't want to dance, i tell him, either your dancin with your wife or your givin me a 20 & I'm going to go spend it at them vendors...lol

Since I made the first post, I have asked other guys that know the rules, and it turns out I'm a bad judge of age. I asked one guy that I thought was in his 20's and turns out he was in his teens! LOL How embarassing.....

If my wife is there, I say "she got to me first." Lately my wife has not been going with me, so I go along for the song. They find out real fast I'm taken though.

One intersting time was when an old friend of mine asked me. She was married, she knew I was married, but with her hubby in a leg cast, I was her victim.
