Shawls
I am curious about the tradition of ladies always carrying a shawl when they dance. I know that it is the right and respectiful thing to do, but I don't know why. Are there any storys about where and why the tradition started?

To anwser your question, Seek out several female elders and ask them the question. Take the time to listen. Many tribes use the shawl for different reasons, so you anwsers may vary from tribe to tribe. I would anwser your question however, This is a womans place to anwser.
