Okay Dancers here is the question.

Would you or have you danced when your outfit is not fully completed?

What I mean is not the entire matching outfit but say your missing an item or two or three or four! LOL

Since I won't be competing at the start I would like to know how much I can sort of, in a shy way, not so embarrassing as been bare-a**, but get away with?

Oh yeah! I am gonna be Dancing Grass Style.

Depended on what exactly you plan on going without. I've danced with non matching stuff before only because I had to.

Have you considered asking the person who taught you how to dance? I bet you that they'd be willing to help you complete your regalia or at least make it look like you're ready for competition.

I just started dancing in August and I am still missing one or two pieces of my regalia....my family, friends, sponsors, mentors, have all helped me to get things together in the last 4 years as I prepared to start dancing..it has taken along time..I made a choice to not dance until I had everything together and I am still only dancing to learn- I haven;t danced any competitions yet....hope that helps..good luck to you!

^^^ ignore this guy. Quik- your such a f*er to people..if this guy could ask someone he wouldn't have asked on here!! Alot of people learn dancing by watching alot of different people, and have say 1 person in their family make 1 item, a friend make another ect....maybe who was helping him can't be reached at the moment...but basically he is asking for advice . You know that and just want to be an a*s instead of helpful. **** Sorry, I am not really sure about guys' outfits and what's okay, but I'm sure that someone nice on here will help ya out. Question- what do u have so far?

Get it throwing the keyboard down like you would in hockey, you know thrwoing off the gloves!!!! Okay! Nevermind that! Us Canadians know this! ehh!!

I'd have to agree with both Quick and Snow but Snow is correct in this sense, that I am teacherless. No one in my family has ever danced. Some of the pow-wow people I do know have a wide range of opinions, just like on here I guess!

SOme say dance any way as it comes from the heart. Then you have the whole PRIDE thing come in and nothing like being shunned away from the circle cuz you don't fit in with the regs.

I have some moccs, roach, bells being made, shirt, pants, apron all being worked on as we speak, almost done! The bead-work is the furthest away from being done.

I am moving along trying to get it done for the end of July.

When I first started dancing, we lived in an urban area where there was no one in our community who knew how to make plains style dance moccasins. Also, my parents were really poor as I was growing up.

So when I first started dancing I danced with street shoes and borrowed feathers until I could get my own.

I will never forget those days because as a child I had a great urge to dance, dance, dance!

just throwin my two cents (again) - i think it just looks better if everything is "there" and finished. you wouldn't go to work with no shoes or pants on now would you? - well if i could go to work in my slippers, i would but i cant.

i've seen people/women go out with the all accessory items (hair pieces, etc.) fulled done but their suppose to be fully beaded northern trad "cape" not finished under their breastplate. out there hopin nobody will notice. just another casuality of our "have to have it right now society."

guess it all comes up to how you want to make your first impression...
