undefinedWhen I was 17 my grandfather past away as I was dancing in a contest. When I walked off the arena to sit down after they took our numbers, my family was all bunched up where I was sitting with a concerned/sad look on their faces. I was told that we are suppose to get to the hospital NOW. I took off my regalia as my sister drove us.
He passed minutes before we entered the room. It was heart breaking, because he told me gram that he was OK and that he knew i LOVED to dance. I felt guilty for not being by his bedside. I finished out the pow-wow. haven't danced since. I am now 28. I miss the arena...its calling me. I will dance again, but throughout the years I have lost many relatives. I find healing by listening and watching for now....I agree with the statement.....its what you believe that will guide you. |

dancing
I thank-you for your heart breaking story.But
I am now at agreement in I will do what my heart feels is right . I feel my dearly departed is deep into his journey now and would be happy that the dancing in the circle comforts me and makes me feel better. The first time I danced in the circle I gifted the drum honey and tea for their thirst. I also gifted the Emmcee(not right term)a bundle of tobacco and blue cornmeal.I made the pouch it was in and it was red leather. So I feel I do ask each time if the drum feels comfortable and then I do or don't according to their answer. Again Thank-you wado |
