Outstanding!
Wow! Somebody who knows that one earns the right to wear a Hair Roach Headdress. I hand it to you for knowing about a very, very old tradition. Kudos to you and your Elders and the outstanding teaching you have received.
There are many postings on this website about several arguing over this and that being Ceremonial or that one should not wear this or not wear that. But many of these posters have forgoten that depending on the Tribe and Time a great deal of Clothing/Dress Items were Ceremonial and for many of these items one needed to earn the right to wear it. Practically every Headdress falls into this situation. One must remember that most Head Gear in Tribes all across Native America had to be earned. This included the Hair Roach. But with time and fashion this almost "ancient" traditon has almost been lost. I advise you to seek help from the Elders that have already taught you well! And Congradulations! |

roach ceremony
I agree with the previous posts in the fact that you have been taught well, in following the OLD WAYS ! Carrying on traditions especially those regarding achieving honor and the rewards there-in , are lost but to a few who are fortunate enought to have elders who are willing to pass on the time honoured traditions so that you may carry them on to your children!
It is definitely an achieved honour to wear the Roach headress, and you best source of information is the elders that taught you this! Most people do not get into details on the net beacuse of the sensitivity of sacred ceremonies! CONGRATULATIONS ! When it is done, you will wear the Roach Proudly !
