Yo its like this: when I'm with my peeps and we meet other skins its all good and we call each other that. When I meet other skins I'm straight with them and ask "yo who's your peeps". I wear my powwow shirts and there's no denying I'm skin. I use the term indian, skin, peeps, tribe, all of them but if your another skin it's all good cuz we all know we can relate and we're all down for fighting the same struggles man. Here in cali we got peeps from all over but when we meet each other man its all about the connection and knowing we are all skinjin. Whatever term you use or whatever politically correct term if your indian then use your tribal names. Like all these canada peeps its cool to see all the anish peeps I didn't know canada had it down for the first peeps man. Just like us cali peeps there's alot of us and many peeps never knew of us either. It's about knowing who your peeps were before us that makes us who we are today.

I agree with Gold Toothed Dancer but If somebody asked "yo who's your peeps?" There probably would be confusion unless the rule of speaking with respect to someone older. I don't mean to sound like an English teacher but if we can't set standards for ourselves then our traditional standards may fall on the wayside. Gold Tooth your postings are informative and readable and I don't mean to sound like a grammar enforcer. I apologize and wish the best for all of us.

I work here in Los Angeles and to get by on daily activities Spanish must be used. A couple of times I've gone through the whole day without speaking a word of English. When a stranger asks me about my background I'll say "soy INDIO AMERICANO del estado de South Dakota."

It's easy. I didn't apply myself to speaking Spanish until I was 27 years old. Now I can fool the Latin natives with my fluent Spanish into thinking I was born in Mexico. This is what you do Caramel, rent the move "Woman on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown" directed by Pedro Almodovar. They used to show it on HBO in the late 80's. Your video store should have it. Watch it hundreds of times and soon as you know, you'll be thinking and dreaming in Spanish.

Yes, for real. The Spanish spoken on that movie has got to be the easiest Spanish for a movie plus it's got Antonio Banderas when he must've been 19 years old.
