August Interview - Stoney Creek

For the August episode we are intervieing Stoney Creek!

Stoney Creek has risen from a well know drum group in the Carolinas to a nationally recoginized Northern drum. And we are excited to have them on the show!

I'm sure this drum has undergone changes over the years. I would like to know who were the original members who started the drum and what year this drum started.

1. What was your first "big" pow wow that you ventured out of the Southeast to sing at?

2. What language are the songs composed in?

3. How many of the original members still sing with the group?

4. How many pow wows do you guys sing at a year?

5. Are there any plans to become a nationally-traveling drum or will you stay a regional drum who hits larger pow wows from time to time?

6. Is there a particular group or singer that gave you guys the most help or really helped you get to where you are?

7. Have you faced any discrimination or ill feelings seeing as how all of the singers are from state-recognized tribes?

what groups have supported you in your travels out of the southeast?
