Code Talkers
From the quiet mesas across the native lands
To the unknown jungles and foreign sands Deep oceans they crossed so far from home Leaving the desert prairies of sandy loam The expressions they made in their native tongue Though ancient was taught since they were young A dialect whispered across foreign lands Our Native tongue, the enemy could not understand As lives were saved and a war did end This Great Nation of ours they helped to defend As the winds of war was theirs not by choice They protected as warriors with their native voice These Natives warriors did volunteer But were still unknown throughout the years These Natives that spoke an unbreakable code Have finally received the recognition their owed Bill Last edited by Ndn8tive; 01-04-2009 at 01:41 AM. I love the poem but
Not all code talkers have received their recognition. In WWI their was first the idea of code talking by my tribe and 15 young men volunteered to use their language for the white man's war. Then in WWII the US gov't went to the Navajo, Choctaw and several other tribes to see if they would once again use their language for the white man's war. Since we don't believe in revenge we said yes and went to their war. I want to know why no one knows of this event of WWI and the other tribes in WWII you never know your tribe may have been one of the smaller groups in WWII that were commissioned for this.
I LOVE THE POEM AND DO NOT WANT TO DIMINISH THE HONOR OF THE NAVAJO TRIBE PLEASE UNDERSTAND I ONLY WANT PEOPLE TO UNDERSTAND THE OTHER FACTS OF CODE TALKING. Yakoke may peace and harmony be with you all of your journey. |

Chata...
if you know more about it you should write a wikipedia article on it. I can GUARANTEE that will help educate and spread the knowledge. I made a site for a Dineh Code Talker who I'm close with Navajo Code Talker - Samuel Tom Holiday, 4th Marine Division - United States Marine Corps Check it out. |
