BACK IN THOSE DAYS

I was really something to see back in those days
A real belle of the ball
I stood proud with my many colours
I had the beat in my soul
The summer months was my invitation,
my coming together
How they loved to watch me back then

My people
Ancestors
Spirits

The circle was my power
My creativity
The drums awakened my spirit
I felt free like an eagle
Dancing was my truth, voice
my connection to the creator.



It was really something to see back in those days
The gathering of so many nations
How we all stood so proud, and beautiful

The Drum
Our mother’s ancient heart beat
She would call us to the circle of life
To dance in celebration
Through our children
In remembrance of our ancestors
To become one with spirit
Like the Eagle who flies high above
How we danced.



I can remember back in those days
It wasn’t that long ago
There was something missing
But it’s in our blood you know
How we became restless
It was time to bring it back
Time to reawaken the drum
Our spiritual attachment to the creator

To pray
Dance
Celebrate life once more

Yep, that’s how it got started all those years ago.
