Question Who can dance?

Ok, I am cherokee, and I dont think we were originally a 'powwow people'. so its been difficult for me to find any traditional cherokee dances. I talked to my great aunt, who is lakota, and she didnt see anything wrong with it, does anybody here think it would be wrong for a cherokee to dance northern trad, as long as i keep it NORTHERN TRAD, and not try to mix anything, and i respect what the dance means, would that be ok?

Yet, I have seen people with as little as 1/500th blood quantum who inspire the spirits of their ancestors because they make being Cherokee a proud part of a their everyday life."

kyflutedancr is an unknown quantity at this point
I dont think there would be anything wrong with it. One of the best N. Traditionals and head dancers around here, and my mentor, is Cherokee. In fact, a big percentage of dancers in the area are Cherokee. Im certain there wouldnt be a problem in intertribal dances, but not so sure if your going to dance at a rez, but that may be just from my location. Not too many rezervations (or contest pow wows for that matter) around western Kentucky ! haha

wado, i would not attempt to dance this way on a reservation, only at intertribals.

The Eastern Cherokee have a powwow on their reservation every summer, don't they? I've met many Cherokee folks at powwows, and several dancers. Maybe we're more common at Southeastern powwows? But I'm not sure that would make much sense, because the majority of tsalgi people live in the Western states. *i'm so confused* :)

But anyway, I think it would be perfectly fine for you to dance northern traditional. I'm part cherokee, and I dance fancy shawl.
