I'd also suggest going to powwows and talking to some of the dancers. Dancers from different regions and tribes have different styles, as well as designs. Get some ideas, just don't copy anything. Take your time and put together your outfit correctly. It is worth doing things right the first time.

Talking alot of "tradish"

the north.trad. book is good...but also try to do alot of beadwork!! alot of dancers have gotten away from the "tradish" way, with beads and quill...and it will make very interesting conversation...and respect?? yes...respect everything..on the trail...in the circle...and fellow dancers and native brothers and sisters.....enough going on,,,alot of handmade stuff!!!!!

Go to Pow-Wows, observe and ask questions.

Do research, like the sources below...

Northern Traditional Dancer by C. Scott Evans - This revised 2nd Edition is an in-depth look at the Traditional style of dance and includes full color photos featuring dancers and powwows from all over the Western U.S. Contains illustrated instructions on correct traditional clothing articles, including bustles, anklets, breastplates, bandoliers, chokers, moccasins, roaches and traditional dance staff. (48 pages, 68 photos & 67 illustrations)

Also consider some of the "how-to" beadwork videos and dance styles videos available at... http://www.crazycrow.com/Merchant2/m...de=851-000-000

it really depends on what tribe you are, because every tribe has different regallia, i agree with spotted eagle you should go to powwow's and observe. It is VERY important to ask questions, you'll never learn if you don't. www.crazycrow.com has kits and books you can read to make regallia of your own. good luck and happy hunting.
