Ribbon vs. Yarn fringe

I'm prepping my 3 year old's first outfit and want to know whaty would be better for fringe, ribbon or yarn. I know leather is preferred, but the way he is growing, I fear he will only wear the outfit for a few months and need a new one. An example, we bought shoes a little too big for him in may, and he is now complaining they are too tight.

Thanks
GJ

What if you backed the leather fringe with velcro, or a stitch that is simple to pull out, then apply it each new outfit as he grows?

Actually 2 of the 3 outfits i have is fringed with ribbon.

Pros:
Flashy
Looks Great
Clean look to it

Cons:
i like long fringe, and sneak up sucks with it because to get up you have to step on it
