White paint by the eyes

I have recently noticed that some dancers have a thin white paint line, by there eyes. Dose that represent something? I heard if you were headman or headwoman dancer, you were allowed to have it. I do not know if that is true or not? So please forgive my ignorance. Thank you.

Look Good !!! lol Paint is a personal thing , worn for the owner's own personal reasons. Some are traditional , some family / clans , warrior societies, and some just want to look keen ! Dancers that "paint up " would probably tell you if you ask them. With respect of course. If they won't , then it's probably some reason you don't need to know , or wouldn't understand.

Sorry. I did not mean that to say that. I was in a hurry when I typed that a couple days ago. I Know paint is a personal, honor given/family orienated. I just want to know about the thin White line of paint by the eyes. Because I have seen Native and White dancers where it alot of powwows, I have been too. I have never wore it and I do not plan on wearing it in the future, ethier! I just wanted to know if meant anything. If I do not find out, I am alright with that. Much respect.

I guess I'm not sure exactly where you mean....Is it on their temple , beside their eyes ? Sometimes with our people it would signify being a firstborn son/daughter -o.o- , second born >o.o< , but many tribes and families have different meanings , so don't take that as gospel ! Be polite and ask ! The worst that could happen is that they don't give you an answer , and you leave not knowing any more than when you walked up !
As far as being on head staff..... Never heard of such a rule. I've been H.M.D. many times and I paint the same as always or not depending how I feel.
