Mmmm...I guess that depends on a lot on tribal tradition. However, generally speaking golden feathers seem much more popular amongst Northern Traditional dancers. Also, I know traditionally some tribes did not use Bald feathers at all for various reasons.

Maybe someone else will be more informed on the subject.

I used to hate how bald eagle feather looked. I still think black tips are better looking, but if you have the right kinda stuff with bald eagle tail feathers it can look nice.

....I've seen both and they both look good as far as I'm concerned.With both types of eagle the immature tail feathers are what's preferred for roach feathers.I've seen salt and pepper bald eagle tails used in roaches and bustles,but it seems the black tipped white tails of the golden eagle are the most prized.In any case,be glad if you can get either one,as long as you take care of 'em...keep smilin'1

The black tips are currently going for $150 + per feather on the black market in the midwest area. It's crazy what some people will do to be stylish.

Me Too. I like kinda like the Salt and Pepper and Immature Eagle look. But I do not know if it is very tradish or not.
