Lakota Straight?
I may be naive when it comes to NEW POWWOW STYLES since Im on th east coast but I havent heard of this....yet, at least. Maybe Lakota Style Traditional? Or maybe SOUTHER STRAIGHT with northern tones to it like Ron Good Eagle. He is the first person I saw wear beaded cuffs for straight dance. |

Well, all the styles started at one point. Who was the first person to say, "I want to wear 2 bustles" "Lets just drape yarn all over our bodies"
Maybe Northern Straight will be a style in 10 years. |

...as far as I've ever known, is "Northern Strait" is just plain "Ol' style Tradish"...nothin fancy, no footwork, no outlandish bling-bling outfits and so on...Think of folks like Terry Fiddler, or J.R. Laplant, or Lee Whiteplume, or Russell McCloud, a buncha folks reallly....Just folks who dance it "Straight"...1-2-1-2-1-2... ...I'm not sure if that sorta thing would be in a book or anything tho. hhhmmm....

I believe that one of the articles about Grass Dance posted here said something about the yarn originating from a boarding school where one of the instructors thought they shouldn't lose everything of the way... since there wasn't tall enough grass around, he got yarn donated from businesses nearby, and had the boys attatch that to their outfits instead of the grass...?
