Mike,
The size bead used is usually determined by your design and it's size. As for the material, to me it seems that most people use canvas or leather. if you don't mind post a pic of your design.

Canvas is definitely an easy choice. You can put 2 layers with 2 layers of calico and it will hold up pretty well. 'Course there are plenty of folks that only do a layer or 2 of canvas -- personal preference I guess.

I use 11/o on lazy stitch projects unless they are custom mocs.

Ok... i have been looking at several pictures of full sets. I have noticed a consistency of what appears to be the back apron. Only half-way beaded. What is the reason of this? and is the front apron completely beaded? Also, are the sidedrops sewn to the aprons? that for all your help

Aprons that tie on and the sidetabs attached to the belt are pretty popular way of doing it. Size of beads depends on the design and what you are comfortable working with. I prefer working with 13's. Another thing to keep in mind a design my look really good standing a foot or two away but what will it look like stand 30 feet away. Designs that are full of small details will blend together at a distance. But they look really good up close. Buckskin weighs more but will hold up forever, canvas weighs less but will wear out eventually.

Ok, I understand that the side-drops are beaded onto the the beaded belt. But i don't underatnd the apron. Is the beaded belt wide enough that all you do is use a regualar leather belt and put the aprons underneath the beaded belt and sidetabs? thanks for all the help

Yep. Put a 2" belt loop (that's about 4.5" of material when you loop it and sew it) into each apron and thread with a belt. Then put your beaded belt/side-tab assy on over top.

What do you guys think about having your beaded belt attached to bustle? I saw one dancer have his apron and drops attached to a small belt, then have a beaded belt used to put on the bustle. Looked pretty good, wish I had photo to show.

My buddy has a concho belt which attaches to the bustle. Same setup. It is useful because the bigger belt helps to stabilize the bustle and you don't need 2 sets of ties to keep it from rocking (not the good rock).
