Question Dealing with beadwork

Just wanting to know what traditional dancers like more-lazy stitch or loomwork.

Crazy stitch by far. Loom is nice, but if you are going to do a beaded outfit i would strongly suggest doing crazy.

yeah

lazy stich stands out way more than that of other styles, specifically for Trad. dancers. The more the colors the less it stands out.

Cool Pefer lazy stitch

Hi all

I pefer lazy stitch. The humps are what are important and making them lay right it is critical. Although, I have seen some box loom work with cuffs and side drops that are outstanding. And I have some good regular loomwork with side drops, harness, headbands that are really good. On the larger outfit items I see mostly lazy stitch. My 2 cents worth.

Lazy stitch; it looks more traditional to me, I've heard white people call it "lane stitch." Besides, I hate doing loomwork.

To add to this question of Loom vs Lazy, what are some hints to doing lazy stitch? I'm working on my beadwork at the moment and cannot seem to get the rows even. I've drawn lines, counted beads, etc and it doesn't look as good as some of the items I've seen.
Thanks
Jerry

Know your beads(the size and width) and how to space them correctly, it's nice to use really consistant beads, but you cannot always find them in all the colors you want to use. Remember to sew them down evenly on your surface(hide, thick stiff fabric), and don't pull so tight that your surface "puckers". Take your time and it will turn out great, another thing is to make sure your overall pattern or design is looking good, it's hard to imagine your finished design when your overly concerned about each individual row.

Thanks WW,
Does anyone have a link to a computerized bead designer? I heard someone mention about one at a powwow, but haven't found one yet. I just think it would be so much easier designing things on the computer in vivid color instead of pencil.
Thanks,
Jerry

GJJudd; I had to go back into my old posts to find this address, even though I don't loom etc., maybe this will be useful to you.

Thumbs up

I will do loom work for hat bands, guitar straps and other projects. For outfits, I only use lazy stitch or flat stitch, just looks better for dance stuffs.
