With Men's Tradish being different that grass is the moves alot of the grass dancers have more fancy foot work that traditional dancers and tradish dancers usually carry a war shield a fan and a dancing stick or staff if not a shield usually just cufflnks. The traditional has more of a warriors story dance than a grass dancer a dance which heals as the traditional tells a story of a fallen warrior or of a hunt and so on....... :D

Since I read in one of your other posts you aren't near your elders or tribe, I won't suggest that. What I would suggest is going to some of the local powwows and talking with some of the tradish dancers there. You might get more help than you think.

One thing we shinobs do is have a blessing beforehand. Sometimes we go to a drum for it, sometimes the pipe, sometimes both. We might do it in the backyard, at powwow, or maybe out on the porch. Usually there is a feast involved - if we ask for this at powwow we ask early in the morning. A perk of asking early is there arent' as many people to feed ;)
That's how we do it over here anyhow. I bet you all do somthing close to the same over there. some people will keep feasting their regalia - either once or twice a year. some folks do it seasonally - all depend on which part of the territory you are from. Asking local dancers is probably best, but I thought I'd chime in anyhow. Good luck - Last edited by sookout sh'nob; 05-29-2004 at 09:56 AM. |

Its good to be initiated into the pow wow circle so you can be recognized by the grandfather spirits and have good blessings everytime you put on an outfit and dance..... I like to say a little prayer before shaking what my momma gave me lol

bYour asking good questions and I'm a firm Beliver that if it is met to be then it will happen. If you are meant to dance than you will... One thing you want to stay away are certin colors but that is because those colors have meaning to those people so you need to find out what color you can use.... A good rule to go with is the 4 colors every nation can agree on those colors being safe. Yes I'm a mens tradional dancer and yes i have pic on this site.
