The way i put my bustle together was i tied a clove hitch to each of the shafts and spaced them with a bead or two depending on how far i wanted the feathers apart. the type of material i used to tie the bustle together is twine coated with bees wax its very strong and duralble. ive made vaious things from a brest plate to a choker and other things. But back to the bustle tieing a colve hitch doesn't weaken the rod or the feather like other ways do buy making a hole.
